PbyPM

What is Point by Point Myotherapy?

3 Fold meaning...,

Firstly,

PbyPM is a 10 POINT treatment protocol developed by Lisa Shelter, L.M.T.

Secondly,

There are POINTS of the body that are specifically treated.

Lastly,

PbyPM is always POINTING the way to health and well-being!

10 POINT PROTOCOL

This starts from the first contact, coming into the office: filling out your form: taking your history: doing an exam and physical assessment: then based on the above results... your individualized Myosession is administered including any exercises/stretching instructions: to the business transition then setting the next appointment...the POINT is the patient's well-being.

Keeping consecutive appointments will accelerate the desired results...less pain with more function.

There are stretches along with ice and heat techniques that help and will be given as needed. Additionally, there may be other suggestions to help you reach your healthcare goals.

POINTS OF THE BODY

Myotherapy involves releasing "TRIGGER POINTS" within the soft tissues of the body. These Trigger Points (TrP's) are hyper-irritable spots within muscles or fascia that restrict the function of joints, constrict blood flow and can lie dormant until activated. The pain can be referred away from the actual point.

Some TrP's may develop before birth and may remain dormant. They also can be created and/or activated, "triggered" by trauma, injury, illness, disease, and other factors. Physical activities produce obvious symptoms which are easier to attribute to TrP pain syndromes. However, emotional stressor is just as valid to trigger these points into activity.

Once the POINT(S) in the affected tissue(s) is released from the irritation, it must be restored to full function by addressing and correcting the perpetuating factors. This is accomplished primarily through various soft tissue methods, restorative stretches with postural and ergonomic changes which depends upon therapist/patient cooperation.

Releasing Trigger Points and imbalance not only relieves pain but restores proper function and basic integrity of your overall body and structure.

POINTING THE WAY TO HEALTH AND WELL BEING!

Point by Point Myotherapy incorporates a multi-disciplinary, cooperative approach. This is to have an adequate referral base of other healthcare professionals to assist the patient to achieve their optimum health and well-being. Cooperating with other practitioners benefits all participants, especially the patient, and creates a healthy and positive atmosphere.

THE POINT IS TO HELP YOU GET WELL!
